The Midwest Rugby referee Society referee development committee, chaired by Billy Koval and assisted by to Tim Enos and Dan Frankenfeld, have published a referee coaching report. This report aids in communication between the referee and coach, and also documents a referee’s progression, when compared across games and seasons.
In order to advance from C3 to see to or from C2 to see one, a referee should have to coach reports as “above grade.” Reviewing the report and the associated competencies for local grades should give a referee an opportunity to prioritize their areas of development. These competencies are available in the development library at the left of the front page at msrrs.org.
Better refereeing makes for a better game. Referee development occurs via teamwork across local and territorial societies.
